Job Description

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking an experienced consultant with a high level of commitment to assist the CGIAR Research Program on Roots, Tubers and Bananas (RTB) in: a) write and edit an article on Gender and varietal adoption.
RTB is a broad alliance of research-for-development stakeholders and partners. The program is led by the International Potato Center (CIP) in partnership with Bioversity International, the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) and includes a wide spectrum of research-for–development stakeholders. RTB, with its combined scale and capacity, will increase the ability to advance research, share knowledge, and enhance uptake to increase research and development impacts.
Expected duration and conditions:
  • This consultancy contract is for 15 working days
  • The payment is a fixed and consolidated fee
Deliverables:
  • First draft of the article (28th of December 2020)
  • Final version of the article (15th of March 2021)

Requirements


What are we looking for?
  • PhD Degree in social sciences
  • Broad experience in gender in the context of agricultural research
  • Experience in working on gender issues and participatory processes on breeding and seed systems.
  • Understanding of the terminology of the impact pathway of agricultural R&D and its development outcomes and impacts
  • Solid publication record
  • + 20 years of experience
  • Experience as a book and technical editor
  • Experience coordinating inputs from multiple contributors, giving constructive feedback for improvement

This consultant WILL NOT be in contact with children or vulnerable adults.
