Child Protection Officer

The Opportunity

Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill the position of 

Child Protection Officer 

under Pathways for Resilience Project in Ntcheu. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating the implementation of all child protection interventions in 4 TAs in this project in Ntcheu district. The officer is also expected to work closely with Government Social Welfare Office as well as other key stakeholders in child protection value chain. Key roles for this position include strengthening child protection systems in the most needed areas within P4R impact area, to ensure children are safe from harm, abuse, violence, neglect, exploitation, establishment of child parliament platform and supporting conducting the sessions. The key aspect would be to build life skills, enabling environment for the children/youth to thrive and prosper by ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in child protection and humanitarian emergency responses.
  • Bachelor’s degree level in relevant subject or Diploma level plus equivalent field experience
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and hardworking circumstances.
  • Ability to write clear project reports (both narrative and financial) as well as updates
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to take quality photos and videos to be shared with back donors
  • Strong passion for working with adolescents.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of SCI. In particular, a good understanding of the SCI mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
