Our client, a major player in the FMCG sector, seek to hire for the following position:

Main purpose of the job

Responsible for managing and coordinating of all logistical and operational requirements of fish/aqua harvest from the lake to the factory, that will necessitate receipt, process and dispatch quality fish and fish products to the market.



  • Liaise with fishing department, Sales, stores and farm on quantities of fish/orders/stock and plans accordingly on receipt & fish processing
  • Plans and coordinates all logistical requirement for effective transfer ice and fish between Jetty/Monkey bay and the factory.
  • Checks that internal transfer vouchers figures tally with physical counting of fish boxes.
  • Monitor & coordinate sorting, weighing and storing of fish in the factory.
  • Checks and corrects all production figures where ever necessary.
  • Issues fish and fish products to MM/ Sales in SAP and through signed correct ITV
  • Monitor fish processing of value-added products such as filleting, chunking, smoking, gutting, sun-dried, proper packaging and storage/transportation.
  • Monitors stock Movement reports from MM/Sales to plan for production changes for fast moving products.
  • Monitors allocation of value-added products and drives for processing of the same during high catches and as ordered by customers to respond to sales demand.
  • Provides and supervise man power as per budget/plan during fish processing activities, housekeeping, loading and offloading of fish and fish boxes/cartons.
  • Advise Production Officer/Manager of any unmet daily targets/challenge on processing of fish & fish products and provides solution to the same.



  • Declaring quality status of fish, making sure that the fish being loaded into truck are of good quality.
  • Ensure timely processing of fish and fish products and posting in SAP of the same.
  • Supports stock movement through FIFO adherence when loading fish/moving fish to base shop.
  • Checks the quality of value-added products during processing, in freezer/smoking kiln/solar drier and during transfer to storage areas/sales.
  • Monitor sorting, weighing and counting of fish packs to ensure weights are accurate

    from Jetty to the market



  • Requisitioning and control of packaging materials and accessories.
  • Advises on replenishment of packaging materials and accessories.
  • Monitors movement of fish sorting boxes and update the crate tracking daily.


  • Guiding MBS staff in conducting quality audit and sampling.
  • Advise fishing section on presence of kasawala from catch

  • Ensure calibration and functionals scales as per MBS requirement.
  • Adherence to MBS regulations.


  • Making sure that all new recruits/casuals have been trained in all relevant operation
  • Supports maintenance of casual’s register/leave/shift pattern as per labor act.
  • Supervise performance of subordinate staff/casuals and provide coaching and mentoring support to enhance excellent performance.
  • Conducts Daily/weekly meetings with subordinate staff/casuals to ensure operational/production objectives are being met and for the smooth running of factory and sales operations.
  • Conducts performance appraisals for subordinate staff through compiling of daily/weekly/monthly performance date.
  • Identifies and recommends staff training needs and develops in-house training programs
  • Plans and executes annual leave for staff.

  • Maintains cleanliness in the factory as per Food safety standards and MBS standards.
  • Checks that PPE for factory personnel are clean and conform to food safety standards for food handlers in the fish processing factory.
  • Checks that the fish crates, foam trays, tables, truck van and fish processing equipment are thoroughly clean before and after each use.
  • Ensure sufficient availability ice as per daily processing volume.


  • Bsc of science in Aquaculture & Fisheries science /BSc of Science in Nutrition and Food science

  • Certificate in Food Hygiene/Food safety and personal hygiene

    (as additional requirement

  • 3 -5 years or more in Fisheries related project/job


  • Excellent communication and people Management Skills
  • Good analytical, IT, budget/target/forecasting and report writing skills

  • MUST

    have knowledge/proven experience in Fish processing and post-harvest handling technique

  • MUST

    have practical knowledge of HACCP principles and application guidelines

  • Ability to work long and odd hours in shifts pattern
