Technical Lead – Education

VSO is an innovative International development organisation that contributes towards addressing poverty and disadvantage through the placement of International and National skilled professional volunteers with national partners. In order to deliver our mandate, VSO Malawi seeks to recruit a Technical Lead – Education. The position will be based in Blantyre and will report to the Program Manager; Unlocking Talent (UT) Project.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Technical Lead will provide technical Education leadership and  oversight in the design of the Solar Projector Project to ensure that the intervention is meeting its intended objectives by working with the schools, Ministry of Education and other partners. S/he will support quality assurance aspects of the project to ensure that its design is incorporating all important educational aspects to allow learners to learn using projectors. S/he will Support the building of a stronger evidence base on the solar projector project.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Education or related field with at least 5 years practical experience working with

    Ministry of Education in curriculum development, teacher training, Education Technology.

  • Excellent understanding of the education issues facing Malawi and the developing world.
  • Practical experience in Education Policy formulation, curriculum development, teacher training, education monitoring and inspection
  • Experience and knowledge of action research in schools.
  • Experience in M&E of projects including reporting.
  • Demonstrable knowledge on supporting the teaching and learning processes using Education Technology
  • Ability to be innovative, adaptive and decisive in analyzing education processes.
  • Track record in leading mentorship and coaching programs targeting teachers and school’s leadership.
  • Competent Data usage, including speedy collation and analysis of complex and high-volume data.
  • Able to travel and work long hours, including work away from the home base, both within the country

    and occasionally internationally and some weekend and evening work.

  • Those with experience of working with volunteers or in a volunteer centered organisation/ environment will have an added advantage
